BAY MINETTE, Alabama — Baldwin voters soundly rejected two local amendment today, turning thumbs down on stormwater and solid waste mandates, according to unofficial results from majority of precincts.

A third amendment intended to establish the Stockton Landmark District appeared to have failed as well, but by a slim margin. With 66 of the 67 precincts reporting late tonight, 51 percent of those voting opposed the measure, with 48.9 percent supporting it, unofficial results showed.?

Marked as Local Amendment Two on the ballot, the district would prevent forced annexation of the defined area.

Amendment One involved proposed stormwater management initiatives including a suggested fee for landowners. Approval gave legislators authority to create a public corporation with wide input from residents and set fees on property excluding timber and farmland that would be used to attack flood-prone and erosion areas in the county.

Amendment Three mandates that all solid waste generated in the county go to the county’s landfill.

(Updated at 11:40 p.m. to update Local Amendment Two late results.)
