It's evident that the US Government and US Big Business are running scared. They don't know what Assange is going to drop next, but they sure as hell know their own sins and know what MIGHT come out. And I imagine Assange has told them to go ahead and kill me and THEN see what comes down the pike.
Americans didn't know the Gulf of Tonkin was a bald-faced lie that escalated the Vietnam War until Daniel Ellsberg slipped us the Pentagon Papers 5 or 6 years after the fact. In that length of time just think how many US troops and Vietnamese died.......for a lie.
These state department cables aren't much punkins, what we should be remembering is the Wiki dump before that which outlined the horrible crimes our troops committed upon orders. The reports our troops wrote up....are heartbreaking and just imagine how many damaged US troops are going to be clogging our soup kitchens, jails and hospitals for as along as we shall live. Lies that started with Bush and continue with Obama costs us dearly in blood and treasure...but remember, that other shoe will drop and keep dropping for the next 50 years.
We love to pretend America is a great country, but the sorry truth is we're just about on par with all the rest. My personal sick feeling started with the election of Bush by the Supreme Court 10 years ago this week and it's been straight down hill since then. I'm too old to move and very few Americans are serious about doing the hard work to make us a better country. Plus we have "them" who own the banks, the businesses, the media, the Congress and the White House.
Look at them squirm! Look at the lengths they're going to to hide their crimes. And I imagine it's going to get a lot worse before it's over, since the rats are feeling trapped and they have the power to disappear any of us.....or worse. I don't know where all this is headed, but my one slim hope is we're headed towards more honest, honorable, transparent times in the US. I'd say we got about a 7% chance of that happening, but what else do you have to believe in or hope for?
