MOBILE, Ala. -- Three men remained in the Mobile County Metro Jail on Tuesday night facing kidnapping and robbery charges.

Twin brothers Ronald Shane Chestang and Ray Shawn Chestang, both 25 and of Mobile, along with Michael Thomas Lofton, 24, of Mount Vernon, are each charged with two counts of first-degree kidnapping and one count of first-degree robbery.

About 12:15 a.m. Tuesday, the three men went to a house in the 5500 block of Lundy Road in Theodore, knocked on the door, entered the house and ordered the male victim to go with them to get money from his boss, said Officer Christopher Levy, police spokesman.

The third kidnapper remained at the residence guarding the man’s wife, Levy said.

The kidnappers forced the man into their truck and drove to the Family Inn, on the Interstate 65 Service Road just south of Airport Boulevard, Levy said. The victim’s boss was staying at the hotel, Levy said.

When the assailants and the victim got to the hotel room, the victim escaped, reached safety and called police, Levy said.

The kidnappers got the boss, put him in the truck and headed back to the house on Lundy, police said.

Meanwhile, police went to the residence. The third kidnapper left in a car, saw police, stopped the vehicle and got out and started running, Levy said. Police caught him minutes later on Gunn Road, Levy said.

Police were able to stop the truck with the other two kidnappers and the second male victim, but one kidnapper ran away, Levy said.

Police arrested Ray Chestang and Lofton. Ronald Chestang was arrested about 3 p.m. Tuesday, Levy said. All three men were scheduled for a bail hearing on Thursday morning, according to jail records.

The victims were not injured, and no money was taken during the incident, Levy said.
