MOBILE, Alabama -- Joseph Russell Terry, 86, died in Mobile on Monday.

A Tuscaloosa native, Terry graduated from the Gulf Coast Military Academy and served in World War II and the Korean War. ?In-between the conflicts, he graduated from the University of Alabama. ?In Mobile, Russell served as a chairman of the board at Dauphin Way United Methodist Church and was active in the Mobile Jaycees, the Mobile Chamber of Commerce and other civic organizations.

"Russell worked for Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company since 1955, and he was one of the first certified life underwriters in Mobile," his obituary says.
