IRVINGTON, Ala. -- Firefighters from at least three agencies fought a house fire with injuries late Thursday night in south Mobile County, authorities said.

The fire, which broke out shortly before 10 p.m., was reported at a home on Edgar Roberts Road, which runs west off Padgett Switch Road south of Irvington and north of Bayou La Batre, according to an official at the Irvington-St. Elmo Volunteer Fire Department.

A medical helicopter was sent to the scene to airlift injured people, but the official did not know who or how many people were injured.

Fire departments from Bayou La Batre, Irvington and Theodore-Tillman’s Corner were sent to the scene. Further details were unavailable late Thursday.
